Using only the freshest of local ingredients and a top-secret recipe, Andersons has been serving mouth watering and award winning pies and bakery products to the good people of Taranaki for over 50 years. With a team of 30, the family owned and operated business bakes up to 50,000 pies per week. However, the focus is still on quality over quantity, with the business carefully developing their recipes, their supply of ingredients and the nutritional value of their products.

Our Process

ONLY FRESH AND LOCAL INGREDIENTS

To make the best tasting pies, you have to have the best ingredients. This is why we only use locally sourced ingredients for all of our bakery products. The meat is from New Zealand dairy farms and the boneless chicken breasts sourced from a local poultry farm. All of our vegetables are sourced locally on the day of cooking (including the potatoes for our potato top pies – yes we use real potato!!). Get fresh, get flavour … get an Andersons Pie.



 

History

HISTORY IN THE MAKING

Baking in the Anderson family started in the 1930’s when Joe and Nita Anderson purchased the bakery in Whangamomana.

From the age of five, Brian Anderson took a keen interest in his fathers bakery and as soon as he was able, was assisting his father wherever he could; making everything from breads and buns to cakes and pies.

In 1964, Brian purchased the Black Cat Café on High Street in Hawera, deciding to make his own piece of baking history; selling the pie in the retail store which Andersons have become famous for.
